18th February 2026: ATC is celebrating the launch of the EL50 Anniversary, a limited production loudspeaker that merges storied heritage, striking design and exceptional performance. It represents the latest evolution of the legendary “50” loudspeaker design, first released in 1978, and with a world class reputation in both studios and homes alike. 

The design and engineering rest on decades of development for the UK manufacturer, with unrivalled drive units and a discrete active tri-amp technology first deployed in the SCM70 in the 1990s and subsequently refined and improved in multiple later models. 

The aesthetic draws from the Billy Woodman designed, EL150, released in 2006, the first ATC loudspeaker to employ an elliptical enclosure. The result is a refined silhouette with poise that is designed to be the centrepiece of any home. Luxury notes include the napa leather finishing, and carefully hand-selected veneer that bring a focus to the pedigree of craftsmanship needed to match the uncompromising performance in this precision-made loudspeaker. 

The Benchmark for Sound 

At its core, the EL50 is built around ATC’s renowned active design ethos, with dedicated amplification for each drive unit to ensure astonishing clarity and control to deliver the most lifelike playback possible. The integrated three channel ‘Amp Pack’ delivers 200W, 100W and 50W of continuous power to the bass, mid and high frequency drivers respectively, echoing the engineering found in ATC’s most revered professional monitors. The result is sound that remains poised and beautifully articulated - even at higher listening levels and with complex arrangements - drawing listeners deeper into the performance with an effortless sense of scale and control. 

Designed to Look and Sound Extraordinary in Real Living Spaces 

The EL50 features enhanced cabinet stiffness and internal damping achieved with advanced in-house manufacturing techniques, minimising unwanted cabinet colouration for purer sound reproduction. The elliptical face of the cabinet flows smoothly into the cabinet edges, improving the dispersion of sound from the speaker into the room to deliver a more natural, three-dimensional stereo image that feels expansive yet intimately detailed. 

Aesthetically, the cabinet is wrapped in hand selected and matched European walnut veneer across its curved surfaces, while ebony inlays on the rear panel and high gloss polyester lacquer deliver a striking finish. Napa leather elements surrounding the mid and high frequency drivers introduce texture, warmth and an unmistakable sense of bespoke craftsmanship. 

The result is a loudspeaker designed to complement refined interiors while making a confident design statement of its own.
