Japanese analogue specialist JICO (Nippon Precision Jewel Industry Co., Ltd.) has announced the launch of the Clipper-S, a new Moving Magnet (MM) cartridge and headshell system designed specifically for straight tonearms.
Building on the success of the original JICO Clipper—developed for S- and J-shaped tonearms—the Clipper-S debuts under JICO’s C-REVO brand in response to the growing popularity of straight-arm turntables among modern vinyl listeners.
Traditional headshells created for S-arms can cause cartridge misalignment when fitted to straight tonearms, potentially affecting tracking accuracy or even record wear. The Clipper-S eliminates this issue with a precision-angled headshell design, ensuring proper cartridge alignment, accurate tracking and natural, balanced sound reproduction.

The Clipper-S combines the world’s first tapered S-cantilever with a solid conical diamond stylus, delivering exceptional clarity and dynamics across the frequency range. It also offers dual compatibility with JICO’s MM Clipper stylus and SHURE-44 replacement styli, and is fully compatible with KORG’s handytraxx series, including the handytraxx Tube and handytraxx 1bit portable turntables.
