Roksan Celebrating 40 Years

Roksan Turns 40: Celebrating a Legacy of Sonic Character and Creative Engineering.

Iconic British audio brand Roksan marks four decades of pioneering engineering, distinctive design, and uncompromising high-fidelity sound.

Essex, UK – 25th July 25. Monitor Audio Group is proud to announce and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of one of the UK’s most iconic audio brands, Roksan. Founded in 1985 in London, Roksan has a rich legacy defined by innovative design, precision engineering and a deep connection to music.

Quickly capturing audiophiles’ attention with the challenger turntable, Xerxes, Roksan, gained immediate traction and notice from specialist press, and interest from consumers; the late Art Dudley, Deputy Editor of Stereophile Magazine in 1986, observed that prior to Roksan's arrival, rhythmically and melodically focused listeners had only one real turntable choice, the Linn LP12. He praised the Xerxes as "so good, and so superior to the pre-Lingo LP12, that honest listeners among the so-called/self-called 'Flat-Earthers' had no choice but to say so."

From the original Xerxes turntable to the newest Caspian 4G launched in 2024 (pictured together above), Roksan has consistently pushed boundaries in high-fidelity audio constantly innovating while maintaining a signature blend of technology, craftsmanship and personality.

For 40 years, Roksan has followed its own path, defined by distinctive design, thoughtful engineering and a clear point of view. Its personality is quietly unconventional, often expressed through unique forms and innovative ideas that continue to set it apart” states Michael Johnson, Monitor Audio Group Global Marketing Director.

A modern voice with a classic soul

Roksan’s success over four decades stems not only from its iconic products but also from the passionate people behind the brand. As part of the Monitor Audio Group since 2016, Roksan has flourished - marrying its heritage with cutting-edge R&D and new digital capabilities.

“We’ve strengthened the foundation of the brand by investing in a new production line, we’ve brought in more expertise in electronics, software and mechanical engineering and we’ve professionalised all the processes that ensure we can continue to deliver consistently strong Roksan products now and in the future while keeping everything that made Roksan special intact,” says Rob Barford, CEO of Monitor Audio Group. “Caspian Series 4G is a perfect example - evolving with modern needs while honouring the spirit of the original design and best of all, we’ve brought production back to Essex. With the help of our dedicated team of technicians, we’re proud to be able to state that Caspian Series 4G models are hand built right here at MAG HQ in the UK – this level of craftsmanship still means such a lot to our customers around the World.”

A shared celebration

To mark this anniversary, Roksan is honouring the people, moments, and milestones that have shaped the brand over four decades. To celebrate the occasion with their followers, Roksan has produced a beautifully designed long-form brochure that will serve as a lasting and shareable piece of storytelling - highlighting Roksan’s evolution and identity through the years. And at the heart of the campaign is a powerful anniversary video, which brings Roksan’s journey to life through the voices of the people who have helped shape its sound and spirit.

Voices behind the brand

One of Roksan’s key team members Software Test Manager Joe Deller brings a uniquely hands-on perspective about what makes Roksan so unique; “Hi-fi is deeply personal - it’s about what sounds right, what feels right. Roksan has a long heritage of designers and engineers who genuinely love the products they create. That passion is what sets us apart.”

Looking ahead

As Roksan celebrates this milestone, its gaze remains firmly set on the future. With new innovations in streaming, smarter connectivity, and a steadfast commitment to craftsmanship, the next 40 years promises to be just as inspiring as the last.
