Monitor Audio Launches Studio 89 in High-Gloss White
Monitor Audio launches Studio 89, now in High-Gloss White...
Studio 89 is a cutting-edge loudspeaker inspired by individual expression and the culture that shapes it. Now available in an elegant High Gloss White finish, Studio 89 delivers high-fidelity sound in a design that’s as striking as it is sophisticated.
Essex, UK – 20th June 2025: Monitor Audio is proud to introduce the stunning new High-Gloss White addition to Studio 89. Originally introduced in 2024 in High-Gloss Black, the Studio 89 reimagines the legendary Studio Series of the 1980s – a range that brought studio monitor-quality sound into the home. Today, Studio 89 continues that legacy, blending nostalgic design cues with cutting-edge audio innovation. With the introduction of High-Gloss White, it does so in a way that’s even more expressive and versatile.
Small, compact, and visually unique, Studio 89 is an uncompromising loudspeaker capable of filling large rooms with pristine sound. Compact yet sonically expansive, the contemporary High-Gloss White finish with the signature gold-anodised bass drivers and Transducer grille hexagonal grille design accentuates its bold form further and brings a fresh new personality into the listening space.
Studio 89 is the loudspeaker for the new change-makers.
Acoustic Innovation
While Studio 89 nods to the creativity of the 1980s, its technology is entirely modern. Despite its compact form, it delivers a vast, immersive soundstage thanks to its point-source MTM (Mid-Tweeter-Mid) Array configuration.
At its core is the latest MPD III high-frequency transducer, flanked by twin 4¼" RDT III bass-mid drivers. This setup, combined with a precisely engineered third-order crossover, ensures seamless frequency integration and controlled sound dispersion for studio-quality performance at home.
Each bass-mid cone features a tri-layer design: a C-CAM outer skin, a Nomex honeycomb core, and a woven carbon fibre base – delivering exceptional rigidity with minimal weight. The bespoke crossover uses premium components for maximum signal purity and reduced distortion.
The result is high-fidelity sound that fills the room with lifelike scale and detail – a performance that looks as good as it sounds in the new High-Gloss White.
Cabinet design
Studio 89 also benefits from an extremely strong and rigid cabinet structure. Its compact proportions include an 18mm front baffle with rigid 15mm side walls. Precisely calculated and positioned internal walls provide additional strength and bracing; their clever configuration allows airflow to funnel via the top and bottom of the cabinet through the high-velocity HiVe II slot ports, reducing potential turbulence and air noise.
Transparent Design Philosophy
The cabinet design works in perfect harmony with the drive units and crossover – a total system, delivering on Monitor Audio’s Transparent Design Philosophy, an R&D philosophy of maintaining a balance between Design and Technology. One is never allowed to overpower the other and both play a vital role in delivering on the promise of musical neutrality and acoustic transparency. The physical speakers are designed to sit comfortably within their environment. They are a beautiful statement, but one where perfectly balanced design neutrality means they will blend in for a lifetime of use.
Every Monitor Audio product is the result of intense collaboration, drawing on decades of experience within the design team and ensuring that all the elements of performance, technology and design work in harmony. Studio 89 is the physical manifestation of this approach.
Uniquely finished
Studio 89 is now available in two carefully curated finishes. Originally launched in High-Gloss Black it is now reimagined in High-Gloss White, retaining the same gold-anodised drive units. This new white edition is designed to be different.
Bespoke stand
To ensure optimum rigidity and a perfect listening experience, bespoke metals have been used for each section of the dedicated Studio 89 Stand. The top plate is laser-cut steel, the pole is extruded aluminium, and the base is die-cast aluminium. The four adjustable feet are supplied with both chrome-plated spikes for carpeted floors and domed rubber feet for hard floors, ensuring that the stands are anchored perfectly in all situations.
Previously available only in black, the Studio 89 Stand is now also offered in a matching white finish, offering a seamless pairing with the new speaker finish.
Summary of key features:
- · Studio 89 is now available in a unique High-Gloss White finish, with our most technologically advanced metal cone drivers finished in gold.
- · The optional Studio 89 Stand, now available in matching High-Gloss White, provides maximum placement versatility and assures that the Studio 89 speakers reach their full potential by delivering the best in terms of sonic punch, detail, and rhythm.
- · RDT III cone produces piston-like control even under the most extreme performance, providing a more precise, lifelike tonal balance and lower distortion.
- · C-CAM cones have a much higher resistance to bending stress – they are lighter and stronger than conventional cones.
- · 3RD generation MPD III high-frequency transducers reduce distortion, flatten frequency response and lead to wider, cleaner more consistent and lifelike sound.
- · Carefully engineered crossovers featuring high-quality components and voiced over many iterations ensure that the drivers are serviced with the perfect signal path.
- · External geometry with thick walls, carefully positioned internal cabinet bracing, combined with through-bolt technology mean the cabinets provide an extremely rigid housing for which the drivers can perform.
