Chord Electronics’ Suzi Pre and Suzi Amp launch!

12 June 2025, Kent, England: Chord Electronics has formally launched its highly anticipated Suzi Pre preamp and ULTIMA-technology Suzi Amp stereo power amplifier, following their prototype unveiling at High End 2024 in Munich. The amplifiers, which can be used in isolation, or in combination as a pre/power amp, are now shipping and available globally.

The 30-watt Suzi Amp stereo power amplifier can also seamlessly integrate with the Hugo 2 DAC, creating not just an innovative new DAC/amplifier option for consumers, but a tailored upgrade path for existing Hugo 2 owners.

When the Suzi Amp is paired with the Hugo 2 DAC and the 2go streamer, it transforms into a streaming amplifier complete with Roon Endpoint and DLNA/UPnP connectivity, plus the potential for up to 2 TB of onboard solid state storage from the 2go’s twin MicroSD slots.

About the Suzi Pre (preamp)

The Suzi Pre boasts a premium built-in MM/MC phono stage with selectable gain and impedance, accessible via top-panel controls or the remote control. It features both 3.5mm and 6.35mm headphone outputs, three RCA inputs, one RCA output, and a 12V DC output. A central polychromatic control sphere handles volume and input selection.

About the Suzi Amp (power amp)

The Suzi Amp power amplifier incorporates Chord Electronics' groundbreaking ULTIMA amplifier topology, delivering 30 watts of stereo power in a remarkably compact design. It features 4 mm banana loudspeaker outputs, RCA inputs, and a removable solid aluminium cover block exposing connections for the direct integration of the Suzi Pre or Hugo 2.

Front-panel polychromatic buttons control power and the AV bypass feature, and its casework venting ensures optimal thermal performance. A 12 V DC output is provided for compatibility with other Chord Electronics devices and a headphone pass-through (3.5mm and 6.35mm) is active when the Suzi Amp is connected to the Suzi Pre or Hugo 2.

USB multiplexer accessory

For enhanced versatility when using the Hugo 2 and Suzi Amp combination, Chord Electronics offers a separate USB multiplexer expansion accessory which connects to the Hugo 2’s dual Micro USB inputs, and adds USB-B data inputs, plus USB-C data and charging. The Hugo 2 automatically detects the active input, allowing for simultaneous connections.

Charging bridge

The Suzi Amp is supplied with a charging bridge accessory for use with the Hugo 2 DAC. The charging bridge connects the Suzi Amp to the Hugo 2 and provides charging power to the Hugo 2 when the Suzi Amp is switched off, keeping the Hugo 2 fully charged for portable use. The charging bridge also offers a convenient 5 V USB C power output for devices.
