Nagra Audio AMP II-S Power Amplifier

Swiss sonic bliss: Nagra’s new power amplifier…

Series II, Amplified

The new stereo power amplifier makes its world premiere in the UK, followed by presentations in Warsaw, Tokyo and around the world.

Romanel-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland - October 2026: Audio Technology Switzerland is pleased to

introduce the Nagra AMP II-S, the latest addition to its Series II family of high-end audio electronics.

Following the introduction of the PREAMP II-S, the new stereo power amplifier continues the development of a range dedicated to musical coherence, transparency and refinement. Designed as the natural partner to the PREAMP II-S, the AMP II-S is equally at home in a wide variety of high-end audio systems.

Building on a successful legacy

The AMP II-S succeeds the acclaimed Nagra Classic AMP, introduced in 2015, one of the company's most successful high-end audio products.

Rather than departing from the qualities that made the Classic AMP so appreciated, Nagra's engineers have built upon them. Natural tonal balance, three-dimensional imaging and effortless musicality remain at the heart of the design.

More than a decade of additional experience, including the development of Nagra's HD and Reference electronics, has provided the foundation for a thorough evolution of the amplifier.

Every critical area has been revisited, from the power supply and input stage to the circuit layout, thermal management and mechanical construction.

Engineering in the service of music

At the heart of the AMP II-S is a new linear power supply, built around a custom-made 800 VA potted transformer. This architecture provides greater energy reserves and increased voltage headroom, allowing the amplifier to reproduce demanding musical passages with greater ease and authority.

The amplifier delivers 120 W rms per channel into 8 ohms, with the first 10 W operating in Class A.

A single pair of MOSFET output transistors per channel preserves the simplicity of the output stage.

The new input board, derived from the Reference AMP, improves channel separation and spatial precision. Revised circuit layouts, carefully selected internal wiring, and optically isolated controls further contribute to transparency and clarity.

Mechanical construction has received equal attention. A massive CNC-machined heatsink provides exceptional thermal inertia while minimizing unwanted vibrations. A specially designed transformer suspension further reduces the transmission of mechanical vibrations.

The AMP II-S retains Nagra's iconic front-panel MODULOMETERTM , a distinctive feature inherited from the company's legendary professional recorders. More than a visual signature, it reflects the continuity between Nagra's recording heritage and today's high-end audio electronics.

Together, these developments contribute to a more revealing and effortless musical presentation: greater transparency, more precise spatial definition, increased dynamic authority and a deeper, more articulate bass foundation.

The result is an amplifier that remains unmistakably Nagra, while taking the qualities of its predecessor to a new level.

International premiere and presentations

The Nagra AMP II-S made its world premiere at The Happening, organised by Absolute Sounds at Haycock Manor Hotel in the United Kingdom on October 17–18, 2026.

Its international introduction continues with simultaneous presentations at two major high-end audio exhibitions:

• Audio Video Show 2026, Warsaw, Poland — October 23–25

• Tokyo International Audio Show 2026, Tokyo, Japan — October 23–25

These presentations will be followed by further demonstrations and special events organized with Nagra's distributors and dealers around the world, giving music lovers the opportunity to discover the new amplifier in carefully assembled listening systems.

The Series II philosophy

With the AMP II-S joining the PREAMP II-S, Nagra continues to develop a family of components that draws upon decades of experience in professional recording and high-end audio reproduction.

Combining the company's engineering heritage with technologies refined through its HD and Reference ranges, Series II embodies Nagra's enduring commitment to musical authenticity.

The AMP II-S is brought the UK by Nagra’s distributor Absolute Sounds, with a recommended retail price of £21,998 inc. VAT.
