SVS LAUNCHES NEW REFERENCE FOR COMPACT SUBWOOFERS…
The 3000 Micro R|Evolution delivers effortless, musical low-frequency output to 20Hz with pinpoint tonal accuracy and audiophile refinement…
Leading UK distributor Karma AV is proud to welcome a new performance standard to the compact subwoofer market with the SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution design. It joins the hugely successful range of subwoofers and speakers from the acclaimed US audio engineer.
Launched at this year’s AXPONA show and housed in a compact 11-inch sealed cabinet, the 3000 Micro R|Evolution features dual-opposing, force-balanced active 9-inch drivers, a 1,200-watt continuous (4,000+ watt peak) MOSFET amplifier and 295MHz DSP, the most advanced ever deployed in a home subwoofer. As acomplete reimagining of micro subwoofer design, it offers music and home cinema devotees size-defying output, unrivalled DSP power, extension to 20Hz, and class-leading musical accuracy.
Traditional micro cabinet designs sacrifice output, control and accuracy for room-friendly practicality but often deprive users of a true subwoofer experience. The 3000 Micro R|Evolution uses a pair of active, side-firing 9-inch high-excursion drivers custom-built by the SVS design team to maximise output from a small enclosure.
By firing in opposite directions, mechanical forces are cancelled, reducing unwanted cabinet vibration - a major limitation in traditional compact subwoofer design. In addition, force-balanced drivers obviate the need for a passive radiator, commonly deployed in micro subwoofers but always eschewed by SVS because of its bloated, one-note bass output.
Maximising the full potential of the dual-drivercomplement is a proprietary 1,200 W continuous/ 4,000+ W peak R|Evolution amplifier, which combines the efficiency of Class D with the ability to move massive current through fully discrete MOSFETs, delivering outstanding real-world subwoofer performance at all drive levels. A proprietary, digitally monitored SVS Switch Mode Power Supply optimises performance by ensuring a consistent 160V rail voltage for the amplifier, while 56-bit processing and premium DACs with 120 dB SNR provide greater headroom with very low distortion.
Managing the amplifier, motor and driver ecosystem is a295 MHz Analog Devices DSP, the most powerful and sophisticated ever deployed in a home audio subwoofer, with six times the processing power of previous SVS generations. In addition to governing all aspects of performance, user control and tuning, the DSP monitors every function of the amplifier, stabilising AC voltage delivery to the power supply and maintaining consistent peak output.
Calibration and control are managed via the leading SVS Subwoofer Control Smartphone App. Users can adjust volume, low-pass filter, phase, polarity, room gain compensation, and up to six parametric EQ bands, with three onboard memory presets for fast system adjustments. Auto Room EQ is scheduled for Q2 as a software upgrade.
The cabinet design, in a choice of gloss black or white finishes, features extra-thick MDF side baffles and rigid internal bracing to support the active dual-driver assembly and to ensure an acoustically inert environment. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs allow for seamless systemintegration.
