LUMIN Unveils X2 Network Player
LUMIN UNVEILS X2 NETWORK PLAYER…
Specialist UK distributor Sound Design no Distribution is delighted to introduce LUMIN’s flagship X2 Network Player to the UK’s audiophile music streaming enthusiasts.
Engineered to deliver unparalleled sonic performance, the X2 sets a new benchmark in digital audio streaming, surpassing its predecessors with cutting-edge technology and innovative features. The X2 incorporates key technologies from LUMIN’s X1 network player to meet the demands of audiophiles seeking pristine sound quality and seamless functionality.
Incorporating Lumin’s latest state-of-the-art System-on-Chip (SoC) processor, the X2 delivers a significant boost in processing power, enabling enhanced upsampling and sophisticated signal handling for comprehensive file format support up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 from a wide range of digital streaming sources, including Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Tidal Connect, Qobuz, Qobuz Connect, KKBOX, TuneIn, Amazon Music and AirPlay.
For the first time, the X2 incorporates a fully custom discreet DAC circuit. This groundbreaking innovation is the result of years of meticulous research and development, controlled by a unique algorithm governing Dual Femto Crystal Oscillators and a fully customised Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Eachcalculation and filter has been tailored for the X2, ensuring an unparalleled audio experience.
Audiophile design architecture includes an external dual-toroidal linear power supply (also utilised by the X1), a fully balanced analogue output module incorporating a dual stage low-noise power regulator and dual Lundahl output transformers.
Furthermore, a built-in optical network provides the X2 with complete isolation from the external network.
The U2X offers a versatile range of inputs/outputs. Network inputs include RJ45 Ethernet (1000Base-T Gigabit) and SFP Optical input for galvanic isolation, with a built-in network switch that allows simultaneous use with the RJ45 port (e.g., connecting a router and a NAS drive). Storage inputs include USB ports for connecting USB storage, flash drives, or USB hard disks. Analogue outputs include XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced analogue, while digital outputs include USB with native DSD512 support and PCM up to 768kHz, 16-32-bit alongside a BNC SPDIF output for PCM 44.1kHz–192kHz, 16–24-bit, and DSD (DoP, DSD over PCM) at 2.8MHz, 1-bit.
The Lumin X2 also features a Leedh Processing lossless digital volume control, allowing for a direct connection to a power amplifier.
Easy access to music libraries and playlists is via the updated LUMIN app, now with simpler view options and playlist management on iOS, Android, Apple Silicon and Chromebook devices. The X2 is also Audirvana and Roon Ready certified.
