The latest in a line of award-winning WiSA connected systems, System Audio’s Silverback 1 system offers smart wireless connectivity and room-filling full-range sound from the most discreet system design.
Since 2020, Denmark’s System Audio has built a deserved reputation for excellence in the wireless speaker market with no fewer than four EISA* awards, the latest for the Silverback 1. EISA’s On-Wall Speaker of the Year 2023-24 is a slim A4-sized active speaker pair designed for discreet wireless operation with the addition of the company’s bijou ‘Stereo Hub’ WiSA transmitter and control centre.
Launched with great success to UK audio fans at the recent UK Hi-Fi Show Live 2023, the Silverback 1 system is conceived for music lovers desiring a large and detailed soundstage without the physical in-room footprint associated with traditional wired systems. As an upgrade to the established smart speaker brands, the system of speakers, Stereo Hub and smartphone is capable of delivering room-filling wireless audio up to 24/192 resolution from any source, including network players, PCs, CD players, games consoles, turntables and TVs.
Designed for on-wall or bookshelf operation, each two-way Silverback 1 active speaker marries a specially designed 5.5-inch woofer and waveguided 1-inch soft dome tweeter with twin 80W power amplifiers within a white or black satin cabinet (including built-in wall bracket), measuring just 31 x 32.5 x 13.5 cm.
The Silverback 1s will work wirelessly with any WiSA-enabled device (Primare’s SC15 network player/DAC for instance) but are intended to partner with System Audio’s super compact Stereo Hub (4.1 x 17 x 10 cm) and elegant Remote Control, which work together to transform system connectivity and performance options with Roon Ready, Google Chromecast, Apple Airplay 2, Bluetooth, DLNA UpNP and Spotify Connect built in, as well as USB Audio SP/DIF 24/192, HDMI ARC, 3 optical inputs, coax digital and 2 analogue inputs.
