Leema Acoustics Free Speaker Calibration Guide

Leema updates its free speaker calibration guide ahead of exciting 2022 product launch

2022, Wales, UK: Leema Acoustics has updated its free loudspeaker calibration guide for 2022, ahead of the launch of some all-new electronics later in the year.

The latest version features a new highly accurate speaker toe-in calibration method, using laser measurement. The free PDF download guide, which has been expanded to nine pages, now offers comprehensive advice on toe-in, complete with a number of easy-to-follow steps for the perfect set up.

The ‘laser method’, which uses nothing more than masking tape, a tape measure and a laser measure, is designed to help music lovers find the optimum toe-in position for the speakers they already own and get the very best from Leema’s Welsh-made electronics, old and new.

The free calibration guide has been updated by Leema in recognition of the importance of speakers as the final interface into the room, and ahead of an exciting 2022 for the Welsh hi-fi manufacturer, which is set to announce new product details in the coming months.

Originally created during the 2020 lockdown, the guide, created by Leema’s Andy Moore, uses the time-proven ‘grid method’ calibration, which is based on Moore’s 30-plus years of industry experience.

Although no longer manufacturing loudspeakers in Wales, Leema Acoustics has a long history with monitors: the company’s first product was a compact five-litre micro-monitor, the Xen. Commenting on the birth of the original, founder Lee Taylor said “I couldn’t find a really high-quality micro monitor for home and studio use, they were either compromised in the bass, or in SPL capability. My co-founder and I decided to design a micro-monitor.

I took them into commercial studios to use while mixing and other engineers said, ‘Can you make some for me?’ and things evolved.”
